Terms of Service

Last updated: 23 April 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using PulseShield ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

"PulseShield", "we", "us", "our" refers to the sole trader operating pulseshield.co.uk and admin.pulseshield.co.uk. "You" and "your" refers to the user of the Service.

2. Nature of the Service

PulseShield provides automated security scanning tools that examine websites and produce reports. We are a tool, not a consultancy. PulseShield is NOT a managed penetration testing service, managed security service provider (MSSP), or security consultancy.

We provide automated scan results and reports. We do not provide security advice, remediation services, or manual testing. Any actions you take based on scan results are your responsibility alone.

3. Types of Scanning

3.1 Passive Scanning (Default)

By default, all PulseShield scans are passive. Passive scans observe and analyse publicly accessible information about a target without sending crafted attack payloads. Passive scanning includes:

3.2 Active Testing (Optional, User-Enabled Only)

Active testing is ONLY performed when you explicitly enable it and confirm you are authorised. Active testing may include brute-force checks, authentication testing, injection probing, and other techniques that send crafted requests to the target.

Active testing is never enabled by default. You must manually toggle it on AND tick a confirmation checkbox before any active test runs. The confirmation reads:

"I confirm I have explicit authorisation to perform active security testing on this target and accept full responsibility."

By ticking this box, you confirm you have written authorisation from the target's owner to conduct active security testing.

4. Your Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have permission to test any target. This applies to both passive and active scans.

Before scanning any domain, you must confirm one or more of the following:

Unauthorised scanning of third-party systems may constitute a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990 or equivalent legislation in other jurisdictions.

5. Risk Acknowledgement

You acknowledge that:

6. Accounts and Subscriptions

To use the Service, you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account.

Monthly subscriptions are billed in advance. Prices are exclusive of VAT where applicable. We may change pricing with 30 days' notice. Changes do not affect the current billing period.

You may cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds. One-off audit purchases are non-refundable once a scan has been initiated.

7. Acceptable Use

You must not:

8. Misuse and Suspension

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if we reasonably suspect unauthorised use, including but not limited to:

We will endeavour to notify you of suspension and provide an opportunity to respond, except where immediate action is necessary to prevent harm.

9. No Warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

PulseShield is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to security breaches, data loss, regulatory fines, reputational damage, or loss of profits.

Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £0 if you have not paid for the Service.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold PulseShield harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

12. Intellectual Property

Scan reports are provided for your use and may be shared with your clients or stakeholders. The PulseShield name, logo, and scanning technology remain our intellectual property.

13. Termination

We may terminate your account for breach of these Terms with reasonable notice, except for serious breaches where immediate termination applies. You may terminate at any time by cancelling your subscription. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through our website. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
